Col. Noble sworn in as new leader of Massachusetts State Police [Video]

Col. Geoffrey Noble was sworn in Friday as the new leader of the Massachusetts State Police. The appointment is the first from outside the department’s ranks. Lt. Col. John E. Mawn Jr. has served as the interim colonel since the February 2023 retirement of Col. Christopher Mason, who wrapped a 40-year career in law enforcement. “We are committed to providing state of the art, responsive, respectful, community-centered policing, and in Colonel Noble, we have a proven leader,” Gov. Maura Healey said.“He has dedicated his career to public service, rising to the highest levels of the New Jersey State Police and delivering results on some of the most pressing issues of the day and that face law enforcement.”Noble is the first colonel to be named from outside the Massachusetts State Police ranks, an option that was part of police reforms passed in 2020.
