Col. Geoffrey Noble was sworn in Friday as the new leader of the Massachusetts State Police. The appointment is the first from outside the department’s ranks. Lt. Col. John E. Mawn Jr. has served as the interim colonel since the February 2023 retirement of Col. Christopher Mason, who wrapped a 40-year career in law enforcement. “We are committed to providing state of the art, responsive, respectful, community-centered policing, and in Colonel Noble, we have a proven leader,” Gov.
