It seems like every other week, Beyoncé finds yet another reason to get me to spend my money. Her latest offering this time around…? Her first ever line of whiskey: Sir Davis.
Named after her paternal great-grandfather — whom she learned used to make moonshine during the Prohibition Era and hid whiskey bottles in cedar trees in the South for family and friends — this new venture is an ode to her legacy and a nod to her future. (It’s also something that she’s been hinting in her lyrics in her most recent album, “Cowboy Carter.”)
“For Knowles-Carter, it was this discovery that made the idea of creating a whisky brand feel predestined. Four generations later, the legacy comes to life — rather than hidden in the trees, bottles of Sir Davis proudly grace the top shelves of fine purveyors of spirits around the world,” according to a statement for the brand read.
