RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – A collaboration between the Black Hills Community Theatre and the Ellsworth Air Force Base African American Heritage Committee this weekend will see the 2nd annual Juneteenth Celebration happen at the Historic Theatre in the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City, inviting people for a day of cultural exploration within and around the Rapid City community.
Featuring artists and giving exposure to minority and black-owned businesses isn’t the only thing that the event is trying to do. Creating productive conversations about the day and learning more about the history of June 19, 1865, is one of the goals of the event, especially in a culturally diverse region like the Black Hills.
