Authentic island flavors in the Black Hills [Video]

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – An area restaurant owner has brought the traditional flavors of the Caribbean Sea to the Black Hills.

A&D Jamaican Restaurant located in Rapid City has been around for nearly 9 years.

“My granddaughter, she was maybe around 5 at the time. We came to the Mexican store, and she was like ‘Grandma start a restaurant’ and I was like ‘No,’” Mrs. Pauline, co-owner of A&D Jamaican Restaurant said.

When deciding what to serve, Mrs. Pauline said she wanted to stick to her culture.

“I’m a Jamaican, and I can do Jamaican food,” Mrs. Pauline said.

You can find authentic food like ox tail, jerk chicken, rice and peas, and Jamaican soft drinks.

A&D Jamaican Restaurantis open 7 days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sunday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. However, these hours can vary …
