Meta & Amazon Axe Diversity, Equity & Inclusions Programs [Video]

Meta and Amazon are ending their diversity, equity, and inclusions (DEI) programs ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

They join firms across corporate America that are also rolling back hiring and training initiatives criticised by conservatives, citing legal and political risks.

The move follows just days after Meta Platforms, the owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, said it was ending a fact-checking programme criticised by President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans.

RT reports: Axios published what it said is a memo sent to staffers by Janelle Gale, Meta’s vice president of human resources.

“The legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing,” the document reads.

“The term ‘DEI’ has also become charged, in part because it is understood by some as a practice that suggests preferential treatment of some groups over others,” the memo continues.
