Iowa lawmakers say they plan to prioritize inflation, education in upcoming legislative session [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa (WOI) – This week Iowa lawmakers are discussing their priorities ahead of the upcoming legislative session next month.

The number one thing at the top of the list for both Iowa Democrats and Republicans is the economy.

Both parties want to tackle how inflation impacts Iowans at the state level, but with different routes.

Iowa House Minority Leader Rep. Jennifer Konfrst says they want to cut back on the education savings account program.

That program provides Iowa families with money, so their kids can attend private schools.

“We’re going to make sure that we are putting them first, and we’re going to be pushing hard to ensure that public money goes to public schools,” Rep. Knfrst said. “And fighting back against efforts to continue to fund — in an unsustainable way — private schools with your tax dollars.”
