In response to pressure from conservative activists and right-wing hate groups, Walmart is gutting their DEI initiatives and pulling back their support of the queer community, including removing LGBTQ-related merchandise.
Walmart is the nation’s largest employer with about 1.6 million U.S. workers. The store is joining a growing list of companies that have caved to pressure from conservative activists to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
Some of the companies curbing support of DEI initiatives, including ending sponsorship of Pride festivals, include Lowe’s, Ford and Molson Coors. Much of the pullback began after Bud Light and Target, faced backlash and falling sales after marketing campaigns or merchandise focused on the queer community. More here from NBCOut.com
