BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A resolution was passed by the LSU Board of Supervisors in an Oct. 10 meeting to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
According to the resolution, the university administration will “undertake a comprehensive review of all programs and bureaucracies including those titled ‘diversity, equity and inclusion’ in which classifications are maintained on the basis race, sex, color, ethnicity, political views or national origin.”
The resolution cites the Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard Supreme Court decision, which struck down affirmative action in higher education.
A new Louisiana law passed in the 2024 legislative session requires public schools and higher education institutions to report summaries about DEI. Reports need to include financial information about program state funding expenses.
