State Farm Insurance agency reflects on Hall of Fame award [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – This Friday marks the 27th year of The Eagle Awards in Mobile.

The Mobile Chamber puts on an annual luncheon recognizing minority-owned businesses for their impact in the community and local economy.

Makeda Nichols, an agent with State Farm Insurance in Mobile, said her agency was nominated three times for the Eagle Awards Hall of Fame before receiving the honor.

“You always hear about the big guys but you don’t hear much about the little guys and I think it encourages a lot of minorities to say ‘Okay, I want to be like that too. I want to be part of the small business and the Eagle Awards and Hall of Fame’,” she said.

To be inducted into the Hall of Fame, a business must meet certain criteria such as demonstrating outstanding community involvement.
