CHICAGO — Several business owners were the victims of smash-and-grabs on the city’s Northwest Side.
One of the businesses targeted was Mimas Taste of Cuba, located at 2925 West Irving Park Road. The restaurant’s owner said this was the third time this year this has happened.
The latest incident happened around 4 a.m. Wednesday at the Cuban restaurant in the Irving Park neighborhood. Police said three offenders broke the front glass door with a hammer and gained entry, removing a cash register. They then fled the scene in a black sedan in an unknown direction.
The restaurant’s surveillance camera captured the offenders in action, with one of them raiding the register.
Mimas Taste of Cuba’s owner, Billy, said at least a couple thousand of dollars was stolen. Plus, the cost of a new front door.
