It’s a story he never thought would happen, but it’s a reality for Rob Stratton, and it’s one he could not have dreamed of.The 46-year-old played 11 seasons of professional baseball, including one season with the Albuquerque Isotopes, wearing jersey No. 17.”I was drafted in the first round by the New York Mets — 13th pick overall in the 1996 amateur draft,” Stratton said. “I got traded to the Florida Marlins. And that’s when I played for the Albuquerque Isotopes in 2003.”Stratton is from Santa Barbara, California, and got drafted to the pros after finishing his education at San Marcos High School.However, due to several injuries, he retired following the 2005-06 season.”The day I retired was the day I registered for college,” Stratton said. “I went back to New York.
