ASHLAND, Ore– Restaurants in Ashland say they are hurting to stay afloat in recent months, with inflation and a reduction in business coming in, some losing up to 20% of their average customer base.

In response to recent struggles for Ashland restaurants, Clarinda Merripen, the owner of the Black Sheep recently went to a city council meeting, pleading for them to understand where the industry is at.

“Come on a Monday, come on a Tuesday, come on a Friday night at 11 o’clock.” She said, “ It’s much deader than it’s been in the past.”

Merripen mentioned that other restaurant owners feel the same. When reaching out to other local restaurants, they confirmed these claims.
