32 business owners in Thomas, Davis team up to stop states current plan for Corridor H [Video]

DAVIS, W.Va (WDTV) – Thirty-two business owners from the towns of Davis and Thomas have come together to protest against the West Virginia Department of Transportation’s plan for Corridor H. The current recommendation would create a southernly-aligned 10-mile stretch of highway between Parsons and Davis. Locals believe the southern alignment could wreck their tourism economy.

“It’s going to hurt all the business mine, in particular, depends on trails, and it would have a negative effect on trails because of the proximity to Black Waterfall, a state park water,” said Matt Marcus, manager of Blackwater Bikes in Davis.

Owners say the state’s plan, called ROPA, is outdated, and it will split their beloved towns and cause traffic congestion during construction. They want the highway to be constructed north of Thomas instead. They are also advocating for more exits off of Corridor H
