13 Sports director Dave Calabro announces year-end retirement [Video]

INDIANAPOLIS — On Tuesday, longtime sports anchor Dave Calabro announced to the WTHR team he plans to retire at the end of the year.

Dave made the following remarks about his amazing career:

“As a high school kid who fell in love with radio and TV, I started dreaming about making a career out of it. 

Here I am, wrapping up nearly 40 years of getting paid to play Television!

The past 32 years here at WTHR have been simply amazing. The journey has been an absolute blast. 

Who else can say they got paid to fly around in a helicopter for 28 years of Operation Football? 

I traveled the globe covering eight Olympics.

I got to carry the Olympic torch twice, interviewed a couple of U.S. presidents and the Russian president along the way.
