Video report: equality, diversity and inclusivity teaching conference at LJMU [Video]

High-profile journalists from Sky Sports News, Channel 4 News, the BBC and Newsquest joined academics and other industry professionals for a conference looking at the issue of equality, diversity and inclusivity in journalism education.

The event, held on June 26th at LJMU’s Redmonds Building, was designed to showcase some of the most current research and ideas in this field. It also allowed a frank panel discussion about what more can be done to improve access to the industry for students from a wide range of different backgrounds.

Senior lecturer, Polly Sharpe, said: “We always wanted this event to be very practical, and for people to leave with very tangible ideas they can put into their own teaching practice. It’s been great to see such a positive response from industry professionals too – hopefully this is the start of some really worthwhile and beneficial collaborations.”
