The contrasting lives of different women played by Taylor Polidore Williams and Crystle Stewart become intertwined by intrigue, fast cars and romance in the official trailer for Beauty in Black, Tyler Perry’s first drama for Netflix.
Though they have diverging paths in life — Acrimony star Stewart as Mallory has riches running her own business, while Williams’ Kimmie struggles after her mother kicked her out — their characters soon become enmeshed.
“Her family owns all of this,” Kimmie tells a friend at one point in the teaser trailer (below), as split screens show her and Mallory hustling in similar ways, as one struggles to survive and the other strives for success.
The Perry series is part of his overall deal with the streamer. The 16-episode, hourlong drama is written, directed and produced by Perry.
Beauty in Black will release in two parts, with the first eight episodes dropping Oct. 24. A release date …
