‘They knew’: A Slidell High teacher says school officials were aware of teacher sexual misconduct [Video]

Two Slidell teachers are without a job after being arrested on allegations of inappropriate behavior with students. Slidell Police Department officials said an investigation into one of the teachers led to additional charges for her and the arrest of another teacher.WDSU spoke exclusively with another teacher from Slidell High where situations allegedly unfolded. The teacher did not want to be identified out of fear of retaliation, but said the two teachers that were arrested were good friends. Slidell PD arrested 35-year-old Alexa Wingerter and 31-year-old Shelby Cavignac. The teacher told WDSU that not only are the two women well connected within the school, but several teachers and students within the school had been complaining to higher-ups at the school about sexual misconduct with Wingerter in particular for years.On Wednesday, Cavignac was arrested, and Wingerter was re-arrested on additional charges.
