HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The Diversity & Inclusion Council invited the LGBTQ community to gather on the steps of the Capitol building today to celebrate Pride Day.
Many members of Pennsylvania’s LGBTQ community gathered in Harrisburg’s Capitol Building to educate the community about LGBTQ issues, promote diversity and inclusion, and provide a space for fellowship and fun.
“You never know what anybody’s going through,” Miss Gay Northern Delaware Sara Besque said. “Any battle, whether it’s related to their gender expression, wanting to love somebody. Pride is a continued fight to be accepted.”

Lawmakers and several influential guests attended and participated in exciting activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, New York, a milestone in the fight for LGBTQ equality.
