Man helping older residents beat the heat by installing their air conditioners for free [Video]

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WJAR) – Many regions in the U.S. are experiencing a summer heat wave and in some parts of the country, air conditioning is not standard.

Mason Phillips, 25, started his home remodeling business M.D. Phillips Construction in 2019 and said he is doing what he can to help the older residents in the area beat the heat.

According to Phillips, he saw seniors suffering in the heat and decided to do something about it.

Roberta Schwartz said she tries to keep up with the tasks needed at her home, but sometimes they can be too much.

“I think in my head I’m able to do more than I actually should be doing,” she said.

Schwartz lost her husband 16 years ago and ever since the 77-year-old has been fending just fine for herself, but recently, when temperatures went into the 90s, things got uncomfortable.
