3rd public input meeting to be held as Springfield superintendent search continues [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – The search for the new Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools continues as another public input meeting will take place Tuesday.

The school committee has been actively searching for a new leader who said say will be as transparent and inclusive as current Superintendent Dan Warwick, who is set to retire at the end of this school year.

At last week’s meeting, members of the community in attendance said they are looking for someone mindful, caring, and understanding of students from all ethnic and racial backgrounds. Public safety was also a major concern as the school district is still recovering from last month’s shooting at the High School of Science and Technology.

Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public and will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the DeBerry-Swan School. Other meetings scheduled include:

  • Tuesday, April 23: Brightwood/Lincoln Schools, 255 Plainfield Street
  • Tuesday, April 30: Harris School, 58 Hartford Terrace
